Dr. Mollie Powell

Veterinarian

Dr. Mollie Powell is a native of Northern Virginia and has always loved animals and wanted to work with them. However, she figured out she wanted to be a vet around age 11 after working with her family veterinarian to pull one of her guinea pigs, Diablo, through a serious illness.  She attended George Mason University, receiving a BS in Biology and minoring in Applied Conservation Studies at the Smithsonian.

She then attended veterinary school at Tufts University in Massachusetts and graduated in 2020.  During school, she pursued additional training in surgery and exotic animal medicine.  After graduation, she returned home to Virginia and completed a small animal rotating internship at an emergency and specialty hospital.  In 2021, she and her husband took a cross-country motorcycle trip to move to California, where she continued to care for dogs, cats, and exotic animals at an emergency hospital.  She joined Groveway in July 2023.

Dr. Powell’s areas of interest include surgery, exotic animal medicine (especially guinea pigs!), emergency and critical care, and reproductive medicine.

Outside work, Dr. Powell enjoys hiking with her dog, motorcycle trips with her husband, video games, rock climbing, and playing Dungeons and Dragons.  Her family includes her husband, Ernesto, a cocker spaniel named Bonnie, and her guinea pigs, Bean and Cheese.  She also fosters guinea pigs for Gardners Pigpen Rescue.
